Huawei revenues increased by 39% last March

Despite accusations of espionage and cybersecurity violations, the Asian company increased its revenues compared to the first quarter of last year

The telecommunications company Huawei announced that March sales increased 28% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019.

This occurs in the context of the accusations that the company has received from the United States, related to espionage and cybersecurity infractions.

In a statement posted on its website, the company, which is not listed on the stock exchange, noted that its net profit margin stood at around 8%”, slightly higher than the same period last year.”

In the first months of the year, the company negotiated 59 million smartphones, which generated profits over 236 million dollars.

The firm explains that by the end of March it had already signed 40 5G commercial contracts with “global leading operators”, and that it has sold more than 70,000 5G base stations “to markets around the world.”

Huawei has been in the eye of the hurricane for months, especially after the arrest in Canada – at the request of the United States – of the company’s financial director Meng Wanzhou.
