Telegram added new Payments 2.0 feature

The payment service through this platform already existed, since 2017, although in a very limited way

Telegram announced the launch of a new subscription feature called Payments 2.0 that will possibly attract more users. WhatsApp’s main rival announced on its blog a new advantage over the leading platform and other rivals, and this is the new way to pay in chats: “Payments 2.0”.

However, Telegram already included support for payments in 2017, but in a very limited way, so that payment bots were the ones that allowed users to pay safely for goods and services.

Also, now the messaging platform has extended this functionality to all types of people and merchants can now accept credit card payments natively in any type of chat, using eight integrated third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

The first advantage that is incorporated into Payments 2.0 is the way to make new payments. These work in any type of chat, be it a bot, a personal chat or a group.

Telegram is a free and privacy-aware platform, so it does not receive commissions and does not store payment or transaction data.
