NASA will open International Space Station to tourists

The space agency has contemplated opening the International Space Station to tourists next year and the cost of the trip will be about 58 million dollars

NASA will authorize two short missions of private astronauts per year. These trips will last 30 days and up to a dozen astronauts will be able to stay each year in the station, without going out of the space ship.

The agency maintains that visitors can be of any nationality and the cost of the trip will be approximately 58 million dollars, the amount the institution will pay to the companies to transport the astronauts.

It is stipulated that the capsules should be operative by the end of 2019, but this objective depends on several previous tests. Tourists will cancel NASA’s stay in orbit; which includes food, water, toilets and the entire life support system on board.

The cost will be close to $ 35,000 per visitor per day plus, if desired, the Internet consumption: 50 dollars per gigabyte.

Since 2011, the Soyuz Russian ships have been the only human taxi to the International Space Station where there are permanently three and six crew members on board. It is currently inhabited by three Americans, two Russians and one Canadian.
