Netflix could enter the world of video games

The streaming service is studying the possibility of entering a sector dominated by other large companies such as Sony or Nintendo

The streaming service Netflix is ​​currently studying going beyond movies and series and plans to expand with the creation of a downloadable videogame service, as international media advances.

In recent weeks, Netflix has been in contact with several veteran video game industry executives to oversee its video game efforts.

The entertainment company would thus seek to expand its offer of audiovisual content with the launch of a package of downloadable videogames.

According to this information, the service on which Netflix works would be similar to the videogame streaming platform Apple Arcade, although smaller launched in September 2019 and has recently surpassed 180 videogames in its catalog.

The entertainment service aims to be made up of a mix of video games produced directly by Netflix and other third-party titles from the platform’s agreements with other studios.

For now, the plans for the arrival of the new product are distant, and it could be launched in 2022, although they are not final. Netflix is ​​also studying ways to allow the game in streaming or directly from the television.
