IBM looks for the protection of data identity

Removable memory devices were banned to avoid risks with leak of information

The fast spread of viruses and the misuse of data has led people and corporations to install antivirus and other programs that increase the protection of data identity. IBM is one of the leading companies in the IT sector and has just made the decision to prohibit workers from using removable storage devices, such as USB sticks or SD cards.

The main reason for this decision is to safeguard the data and prevent leak of information that could be reached by strangers, which could cause severe financial damage. These devices can be stolen or lost while the user moves them from one place to another.

To minimize the discomfort that the measure causes in workers, the company recommends using internal services to transfer and share data, since they reduce the risks posed by removable devices.
