Unicef France will accept donations in cryptocurrencies
The agency announced that it will expand the sources through which it receives donations in digital currency to help children since the difference between life and death could be a bitcoin
Unicef France has just announced that it will accept donations in nine cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, EOS, Stellar, Litecoin, Monero and Dash.
The announcement is released after the successful campaign called GameChaingers, in February this year, to help children in Syria affected by the war. At that time, they asked the players to donate their computer resources for crypto extraction.
Through the Twitter account of the French agency, @UNICEF_france, they launched the news and detailed the cryptocurrencies that they will accept in their campaigns to help children victims of war.
The initiative to donate electric power for the extraction of cryptocurrencies is not new. In Australia, Unicef had opted for this proposal last April. In this country mining was done through the website HopePage, created at that time to mine Monero.
According to the executive director of Unicef France, Sebastian Lyon, blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are “an innovation in terms of solidarity and fundraising”. He stressed that they can not be missed because the benefits to the humanitarian world are incalculable.
