Connecticut studies blockchain technology application

The governor of the state created a working group that must submit guidelines for January 1st, 2019

The governor of the state of Connecticut, Dannel Malloy, created a study group on blockchain technology and its application in various areas of life in the state, such as education, commerce, employment, industry. The initiative was officially launched through the Law SB 443 and the group must deliver the results by January 1st, 2019.

According to the bill, the working group must have five members with extensive knowledge in blockchain or representatives of the industries that could be beneficiaries of this technology, and at least two members of the academic sector.

The deadline for the delivery of results, observations and suggestions is January 1st next year. The group will face six months of intense work to submit the documents to the permanent mixed commissions of the General Assembly.

Several states have established documents, working groups and approved legislation in the United States regarding blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, digital payment systems, startups and other topics of the new digital economy.

In Colorado a bill was passed to regulate the use of blockchain technology specifically in the maintenance of government records and cybersecurity. On the other hand, in Tennessee blockchain technology was legally recognized for electronic transactions.
