Cutaneous patch would be the cure for COVID-19

Research conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center presented advances in finding an antidote to the coronavirus

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (Pennsylvania, USA) may be close to finding a coronavirus vaccine.

This drug, which until now has been tested only in mice, creates specific antibodies for this virus and with the amounts necessary to neutralize it.

This vaccine is administered through a skin patch the size of a fingertip, the researchers explained. The researchers called this vaccine PittCoVacc, an abbreviation for Pittsburgh Coronavirus Vaccine.

Three weeks ago, the international intergovernmental organization Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) gave at least $ 5 million to a consortium led by the Pasteur Institute in Paris, in collaboration with Themis in Vienna and the Vaccine Research Center (CVR) of the University of Pittsburgh to initiate research and achieve a vaccine for this virus.
