IMF assures the current crisis will be worse than 2008

The International Monetary Fund issued new forecasts regarding the world economy, considering that the forecasts are not very encouraging

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued new forecasts regarding the world economy, considering that it is already in a recession “more dramatic” than that of 2008, according to what the director of the institution Kristalina Georgieva said on Friday.

In this way, Georgieva lowered its forecast, given that on March 23 and 27 assured that this year’s recession was going to be “as bad or worse” than that of 2008.

“This is a crisis like no other. We have never seen the world economy approach a slowdown in IMF history. We are in recession and it is much worse than the global financial crisis,” Georgieva explained.

The Bulgarian has indicated that the WHO has the job of protecting people’s health, while the IMF has to dedicate itself to safeguarding the health of the economy. For this reason, they both have to work together.

The top leader of the Washington-based institution has assured that this is “the darkest hour of humanity”, since the coronavirus poses a threat to the entire planet, so there needs to be unity to “protect the more vulnerables.”
