5G will reach 65% of the world’s population by the end of 2025

According to Ericsson Mobility Report studies, it is expected that 5G technology subscriptions to exceed 2 million users

After a study carried out by the company Mobility Report of Ericsson which analyzes the evolution of the telephone networks in the coming years, the 5G network is the main novelty that could reach about 2 million 600 thousand. It will result in an expansion which will cover 65% of the world population at the end of 2025.

Thanks to this extension, 5G will control 45% of global mobile data traffic, according to figures from a report issued by the company, which still place it behind the LTE or 4G networks.

In addition, with this projection the use of mobile data is also projected to increase, thanks to the raise in consumption of streaming video and new services such as virtual reality. Thus, it is expected that in 2025 smartphone users worldwide will consume an average of 24 GB per month, compared to the current 7.2 GB.

Accordingly, while the current 7.2 GB per month allows viewing 21 minutes of HD video (1280 x 720) per day, the 24 GB will allow 30 minutes of HD video to be transmitted with an additional six minutes of virtual reality per day.

According to Ericsson, it is estimated that North America will be the first region to make a mass adoption of the 5G network, forecasting that by 2025 subscriptions will account for 74% of total mobile subscriptions, placing second in Northeast Asia with a 56%, followed by Europe with 55%.
