IDB starts Annual Meeting of Governors in Ecuador

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched the Annual Meeting of Governors that takes place from Monday 15 to Wednesday 18 in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil

In this assembly, the financial solutions offered by BID Invest will be reviewed, which are concentrated in the private sector of the economy of Latin America and the Caribbean.

On July 2, Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno confirmed that this event will be held in the country and said that the nation welcomes the delegates to the forum. It is necessary to emphasize that representatives from almost 50 countries are expected.

Likewise, the president said that the IDB, since it was founded in 1959, is one of the most important strategic partners of Ecuador. He remarked that the Annual Meeting of Governors returns to the country after 40 years and will allow to massify the possibilities of investment and development.

The entity is also the main source of financing for development in Latin America, recalled the Ecuadorian Head of State.

During the days of the annual meeting of the IDB’s Board of Governors, several forums will be held to exchange ideas that will lead Ecuador to greater prosperity, the president said. The IDB will back the nation with $1.7 billion to strengthen the government’s Prosperity Plan.

The financial institution’s support enabled the successful completion of 812 projects in Ecuador in the areas of education, health, environment, housing, water and sanitation, among others.
