Bessant: Cryptocurrencies are a worrying means of payment

The director of Bank Of America explained that although the technology that drives the system has potential, it's not highly recommended due to its lack of clarity in transactions

During an interview conducted by CNBC on cryptocurrencies, the Director of Operations and Technology of Bank of America, Cathy Bessant, expressed that this type of currency, as a payment system, “are worrisome”, because the base of the banking system is in the transparency between the sender and the receiver, and the cryptocurrency is designed not to be of that style.

Bessant mentioned that although the technology that drives the system has a lot of potential, it’s not highly recommended due to its lack of clarity in transactions.

In addition, explained that the use of credit cards issued by the financial institution, doesn’t allow and won’t allow the use of the credit instrument to speculate in the world of cryptoactive, in the same way that prohibits it to buy shares.

“Just as we do not allow buying shares on our credit cards, we will not allow crypts or other currencies to be purchased on our credit cards” she said.
