Nasdaq could create a crypto exchange
The CEO of the company, Adenas Friedman, said that they aren't close to the idea of eventually launching a cryptographic exchange service
The CEO of Nasdaq, Adenas Friedman, recently expressed during an interview that the company is “open” to the idea of using a crypto exchange.
“If we look at it and say ‘it’s time, people are ready for a more regulated market, we will do it’ (…) I think digital currencies will continue to persist, it’s just a matter of how long it will take that space to mature. Once you look at it and say, ‘do we want to provide a regulated market for this?’ Certainly Nasdaq would consider it”, Friedman said.
Although it’s not very likely that Nasdaq will launch a service of this type in the short term, it’s important that they have recognized that they are not outsiders to this type of emerging technology, since in addition to being the home of several ETFs focused on blockchain, as well as of public companies that focus on technology, Nasdaq has a long-term relationship with Chainchain startup.
