The United States will sanction any country that purchases oil from Iran

The United States is straining relations with Iran, saying it will impose sanctions on any nation that purchases crude from Tehran, including commercial allies such as India

Turkey is one of the affected countries and promised to disobey Washington’s order. The measure caused a burst of global oil prices. Meanwhile, Donald Trump exclaimed that Saudi Arabia and other allies will compensate for the fall in the supply of black gold.

The decision of the North American government puts an end to the permit of eight countries to continue buying crude from Iran. Undoubtedly, Trump seeks to bring Iranian oil export to “zero” and “deprive the regime of its main source of income,” as announced by the White House.

For its part, the threats of sanctions once again worsen the already strained relations between the United States, Beijing and Ankara.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said: “We do not accept unilateral sanctions and impositions on how we will establish relations with our neighbors.” He also said that the measure will not contribute to peace and harmony in the region.

The impositions of the United States are delicate for India, since it is a strategic ally of Washington and is the third world importer of oil. It should be remembered that the country already faces pressure to stop buying oil from Venezuela. The Indian government said it was “studying the consequences of the decision.”
