Nokia acquired SpaceTime Insight

The company's goal is "to achieve higher profit margins than its classic hardware products"

As part of its latest strategy to build a stand-alone software business, Nokia reported that it acquired the manufacturer SpaceTime Insight, with the goal of “achieving higher profit margins than its classic hardware products.”

Although the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, SpaceTime is known to provide monitoring and analysis applications to clients in the energy, logistics, transport and public services sectors. In this way, they manage their general operations effectively and reduce the costs of the service.

Among the more than two dozen large SpaceTime customers are FedEx, the second rail operator in the United States Union Pacific, the American electricity companies Entergy and NextEra Energy and Singapore Power.

Nokia is the second largest provider of telecommunications software with a 10% share of a highly fragmented market, according to data from the 2016 industry research group Analysys Mason.
