Chinese hackers accused of attacking 45 companies and agencies in USA

The US Department of Justice released an indictment condemning two alleged Chinese hackers of attacking major technology companies and government agencies

The indictment points to the Ministry of State Security, which is the main intelligence agency in China, as responsible for having launched this campaign with which they seek to steal intellectual property and destabilize the country.

The defendants are Zhu Hua and Zhang Shilong, who would be hackers of the group called APT10, which according to the United States is supported by Beijing and several information security companies of the Chinese government.

Chinese citizens are accused of cyber attacks, conspiracy to commit electronic fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The indictment does not mention the names of the companies affected by these alleged attacks, except in the case of IBM, HP and the NASA Goddard Space Center and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, also from NASA.

The hackers would have relied on targeted phishing campaigns, this through Word files with malware where the objective was to steal user names and passwords using keyloggers.
