Zoom enables transcription for free accounts

The company reported that this tool, which works in real time, is available from this week

Zoom brought automatic transcription in real time to the free accounts of its Zoom Meetings video calling service, a feature already available in paid subscriptions that seeks to improve the accessibility of the platform.

The technology company announced in February that in October, this feature would be available to all Zoom users, so from this week any user can activate it in their free account.

This function, available so far in the Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars paid accounts, allows the generation of automatic transcripts during video calls, and is included among the accessibility tools implemented by the company.

“For us it is important that everyone can connect, communicate and participate successfully using Zoom”, assures the head of Product Marketing, meetings and chat, Teresa Larkin, in the official blog. She points out that “without the appropriate accessibility tools, people with disabilities face huge barriers when using video communication solutions.”

Automatic transcription can be activated from the Zoom web portal. They are currently available in English, but the company says it will extend it to more languages in the future.
