Venezuelan university establishes internal decree for the use of AI

The Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Venezuela, issued the guidelines that will govern the use of Artificial Intelligence in its internal processes as well as its use

The Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Venezuela, is a pioneer in the establishment of regulations for the application and use of Artificial Intelligence in internal processes.

The information was recently released, when it was indicated that the house of studies in the city of Caracas published the “Rectoral Decree on general policies related to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in university functions.”

Said decree details the guidelines that will be applied in the university to make use of AI. The document is made up of “14 articles and covers numerous aspects related to the subject… in the different areas of university work.”

The usefulness and use of AI in the academic field, research, new projects, without paying attention to the ethical component and its impact on the social, work and individual environment.

In its article 1, the decree signed by the rector Arturo Peraza, S.J., UCAB “recognizes the importance and impact that artificial intelligence tools have on society, the labor market, the environment and education.”

In this regard, “the firm purpose of developing actions that, within the framework of ethics and deep concern for human development, allow its use in the institution itself and in society in general” is proposed.
