Bancamiga Banco Universal and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Venezuela delivered the certificates to the entrepreneurs who participated in the first cohort of En Marcha Digital, a program that helps participants boost their businesses and discover new ways to reach customers.
The 41 participants from a dozen states in the country had the opportunity to train online, and at no cost, for three months in the program developed by UNDP with this remote accompaniment methodology, which seeks innovation in business models and its digital transformation.
The contents of En Marcha Digital are extensive and cover different areas of business development (marketing, finance, gender equality, good environmental practices, security and order in the business, among other topics), as well as more than 200 hours of personalized advice from UNDP-certified consultants to prepare a short-term plan for the improvement of their small businesses, explained Milagro González, Bancamiga’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at the beginning of the meeting.
She added that the first cohort of En Marcha Digital was developed as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bancamiga and UNDP Venezuela in October 2022, whose purpose is mutual cooperation to strengthen the initiatives of the financial institution aimed at training, assistance technical advice and advice to entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses.
In this regard, Eduardo López-Mancisidor, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Venezuela, welcomed the speed with which Bancamiga began to develop what was agreed in the memorandum and that is reflected in the certification of the first cohort, which allowed the strengthening of the models of businesses of 21 Venezuelan companies, whose owners are mostly women heads of household.
“This alliance is making it possible to expand the coverage of En Marcha Digital in various states of the country, and serve as a reference framework for other institutions,” he said.
López-Mancisidor congratulated the participants for having overcome the challenges of a virtual technical assistance program and for being able to incorporate improvements in their businesses.
The UNDP Venezuela Inclusive Development Officer, Yamel Pérez, recognized the participants for having satisfactorily completed the entire program and valued Bancamiga’s dedication to service, as well as Gustavo González and Francisco Rodríguez, the consultants who accompanied the entrepreneurs during the training process.
