Taringa launches stablecoin as a reward for users

The Latin American social networking giant partnered with MakerDAO and electronic wallet provider Airtm to develop a points system powered by stablecoins to reward its 27 million users as a prize

The project was unveiled on Friday at the Blockchain Summit in Latam in Mexico City. The program was called “Taringa Pioneros” and will reward users with points for creating popular platform content.

The points can then be converted into MakerDAO’s DAI stablecoin based on the ethereum blockchain technology. In the official statement of the company they make emphasis on the potential of the program to offer users a safe and stable value store, as well as financial independence from governments.

In the same way, it is worth mentioning that the social network has an important influence and acceptance in Latin American countries that have experienced hyperinflation, such as Argentina and Venezuela.

For its part, the provider of electronic wallets Airtm expressed the importance of decentralized solutions for finance in the Latin American regional context.

Taringa is no stranger to the cryptographic ecosystem and previously partnered with purse provider Xapo to launch an income distribution system based on bitcoins for customers.
