Starlink will test satellite telephony

The Space X company plans to start preliminary tests of this service for this 2023

Space X plans to start testing a satellite telephone service in 2023, a project that it will develop together with telecommunications companies and that follows the announcement made last year to transmit the Internet directly to mobile devices with Starlink V2.

Satellite telephony occupied one of the panels at the “Satellite Conference and Exhibition 2023” conference, which is being held this week in Washington (United States), and which was attended by SpaceX’s Vice President of Business Sales for Starlink, Jonathan Hofeller.

Hofeller explained that Starlink, the Internet service, already has more than a million users, and that the aerospace company manufactures six next-generation satellites and a thousand user terminals every day.

The manager also took advantage of the meeting to confirm that the company plans to “start testing” Starlink’s satellite transmission service to mobile devices this year.

This announcement follows the one already made by SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, last year, when he announced that they already had the first prototype of a Starlink 2.0 satellite seven meters long and weighing 1.25 tons.
