Plataforma Patria closed three cryptocurrency wallets

The government of Nicolás Maduro implemented significant changes in the management of cryptocurrencies through the Plataforma Patria

The government of Nicolás Maduro implemented significant changes in the management of cryptocurrencies through the Patria platform. This platform, in charge of managing bonuses and subsidies, will close the wallets of three prominent cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dash. Funds deposited in these cryptocurrencies will automatically be converted into bolivars, as announced on their website.

The official statement highlights that once this operation is completed, Plataforma Patria will concentrate its technological resources in the purses of Bolivar Digital and Petro.

The conversion will be carried out using the reference exchange rate published by the Central Bank of Venezuela, with value date corresponding to the day of the operation, and the rate published on Cryptocompare.com for cryptocurrencies, without applying any commission.

Although there is still no official announcement about the closure of Petro’s purse (PTR), some news agencies report on the possible end of the cryptocurrency created by the president in February 2018 and backed by national oil reserves.
