Mercado Libre launches streaming service in Argentina

Mercado Play is Mercado Libre's new bet in Argentina to compete with Amazon and Netflix. It will be free but will include advertising

Argentines have a new Mercado Libre offer to watch movies for free, although with advertising included. This is Mercado Play, a streaming service to compete with Amazon and Netflix.

The official launch is scheduled for next week; for the moment, the introduction to the market is silent. The truth is that Mercado Play will offer Disney+ and Paramount movies and series to subscribers.

“In principle, the service will be available exclusively for Argentina, and it is expected that it will later expand to other countries in the region such as Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru and Ecuador,” they have indicated from Mercado Libre.

The platform has incorporated age filters: 12, 14, 16, 18 years of age and adults. Customers will have the option to select dubbing in English, Portuguese and Spanish or add subtitles. Of course, to enjoy this new offer, those interested must be subscribed to level 6 of Mercado Libre, with a current cost of 1,000 pesos. “It will offer all Disney+ titles free of charge and Paramount+ and HBO titles at a 30% discount.”
