The startup has managed to bill 31 million euros and currently has 32 million users

The startup Freepik has become a complete success in Spain, managing to position itself as an important benchmark in the stock image market. Currently the company is supported by a huge catalog of more than 10 million graphic resources and a freemium model that allows you to download certain images for free.

The initiative promoted for 10 years by brothers Alejandro and Pablo Sánchez Blanes, together with their friend Joaquín Cuenca, currently has the financial support of the Swedish investment fund EQT who has bought a majority stake in Freepik.

According to the comparison made by the EQT fund, Freepik competes with services such as Shutterstock, an American repertoire of photography, video, music. However, the startup has been quite receptive and according to market sources it is valued at 250 million euros.

For their part, the founders of the company will continue to lead the business and maintain part of the shareholding, as the newspaper El Economista points out. The next step, according to the source, is to grow it organically in other international markets such as the United States. and Asia.

For 2019, Freepik billed 31 million euros and currently has 32 million users and an average of 110 million monthly downloads.
