X will offer features to highlight Community Notes

The Elon Musk-owned social network will provide new features for its Community Notes feature

X, hitherto known as Twitter, announced that it will award badges to the most popular users of its Community Notes feature, giving them benefits such as making it easier for their notes to reach users who rate their contributions.

Community Notes is billed as a tool that aims to “create a better informed world” by allowing users to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading tweets.

With these notes, the figure of the collaborator is presented, that is, people on Twitter who register in the application to write and rate notes. Only the ones that are rated as useful by people of diverse points of view can appear in the posts.

In this way, “it is not Twitter who decides what is shown, but the users”, as the platform recalls on its website, where it also comments that it is a program “built on the basis of transparency.”

This feature introduces options that define whether a community note was helpful, what was helpful to rate it as good, with alternatives such as ‘cite quality sources’ and ‘neutral/unbiased language’, or why it wasn’t helpful; ‘Opinion or speculation’, ‘Does not address key points or is irrelevant’, and ‘Arguing or biased language’.

The company has now announced that “the best writers will have a badge” on their profile to distinguish them from other users of the platform, a recognition that will give them access to additional features.
