By 2025, there will be five countries where these assets will be tax-free: El Salvador, the Cayman Islands, the United Arab Emirates, and Germany.

This situation stems from strong regulatory frameworks and an openness to transactions with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, thanks to their security, speed, and transparency.

Regarding tax exemption, in the case of the Cayman Islands, cryptocurrencies do not pay income, capital gains, or corporate taxes, making them the ideal instrument for crypto traders and funds.

In the United Arab Emirates, zero tax applies to “all cryptocurrency activity,” and transactions also benefit from a strong and clear regulatory framework.

El Salvador, in Central America, declared Bitcoin legal tender with full tax exemption. The market’s leading cryptocurrency continues to gain national adoption.

Germany, on the other hand, allows cryptocurrency holdings for more than 12 months with zero tax.

Finally, in the case of Portugal, “long-term cryptocurrency gains remain tax-free; the NHR program boosts benefits for expats.”

It is the tokenization of tangible assets through blockchain technology; that is, everything that can be traded. The trend is on the rise this year and promises dividends to investors. “This process is similar to dividing a large asset into smaller, more accessible parts, allowing more people to participate in its ownership and investment. A common example is the tokenization of a building: instead of a single person or entity owning the asset, digital tokens representing parts of the property’s value can be acquired by many investors.”

In the process, the first step is the identification and valuation of the asset to be tokenized. This value is then divided into digital tokens, a fraction of the total that becomes fractional to allow the purchase in small parts.

Then, the second step is to comply with the laws and regulations that are represented through special purpose vehicles. They allow guaranteeing the correct backing of the asset and that it is transferable according to local laws.

The creation of smart contracts for this commercialization is the third step. They are executed, as is known, through the blockchain in an automatic and secure manner.

The fourth step is the selection of the blockchain platform for the issuance and management of the tokens. The Ethereum, Polygon, and Solana platforms are known, among others.

M.Pino

Under the leadership of Andy Jassy, the company recorded cumulative net sales of $574,785 million, an increase of 12 % over 2022. This growth was highlighted in its main segments, especially in the smart cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Jassy, in a statement, stressed that the record Christmas sales season was the culmination of a robust exercise. The results reflect the strong performance of AWS and the new capabilities of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

After a 2022 hit by economic uncertainty due to interest rate hikes, the war in Ukraine and supply chain problems, the company focused on revitalizing its logistics business and innovating in AI.

Amazon also implemented drastic cost cuts, including layoffs of some 27,000 workers, mostly in the first half of the year.

In 2023, the bulk of Amazon’s revenue came mainly from the North American business, reaching $352.8 billion, an increase of 12 %. It was followed by the international business with $131.2 billion, an increase of 11 %, and AWS with $90.8 billion, an increase of 13 %.

In the fourth quarter, crucial for Wall Street analysts, Amazon generated a profit of $10,624 million, more than 30 times higher than the modest $278 million of the same period in 2022. In addition, net sales reached 169,961 million, an increase of 14 %.

Puma’s turnover until September reached 6,268.5 million euros, 24.4 % more than in the same period last year. By business segments, footwear sales totaled 3,141 million euros, 30.4 % more, while clothing sales rose 20.6 %, to 2,159.5 million. Revenue from accessories, meanwhile, was 968 million, 15.3 % more.

By geographical area, sales of the German company in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) grew by 21.9 % until September, with 2,386.7 million, while in America they rose 40.8 %, to 2,688, 3 millions. In Asia-Pacific, Puma recorded revenues of 1,193.4 million euros, 2% more.

Between July and September, Puma’s net profit reached 146.4 million euros, 1.8 % more than in the third quarter of 2021, while sales of the German company totaled 2,354.4 million euros, 23.9 % more.

“Despite all the global uncertainties, the third quarter was again a very good quarter for us,” said Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Puma.

However, the executive warned that, although strong demand for footwear continues to be seen, it is also appreciated that the high levels of inventory in the market, especially clothing, have led retailers to place orders more cautiously than a year ago.

“We continue to see a strengthening of the Puma brand and our sales globally. We expect continued volatility in the market during the fourth quarter, but we are confident that we can deliver according to our outlook for the full year,” he added.

In this way, despite the highly uncertain environment, Puma has reiterated its outlook for 2022 of sales growth adjusted for exchange rates of between 15 % and 16 % and an operating result in a range of 600 to 700 million euros, compared to 557 million in 2021.

In any case, in line with previous expectations, the company estimates that inflationary pressures stemming from increased freight rates and raw material prices, as well as operational inefficiencies due to Covid-19 and the Ukraine crisis will dilute profitability in 2022.

Fans with greater economic possibilities have reserved hotels and tickets to matches. Meanwhile, those who will watch the matches in their respective countries already have in their hands the well-known album of Panini cards.

The origin of this is portrayed in the brothers Giusseppe, Benito, Franco and Umberto Panini, originally from Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. Decades of tradition have passed through the Panini album, released in 1970, at the initiative of the brothers who gave it their last name, after a trip to Modena. In 1945 the family obtained permission to sell in a kiosk very close to the cathedral of that town. And an interesting collection of plants and flowers came into his hands.

The brothers Giusseppe, Benito, Franco and Umberto Panini

Collectible cards or tokens were in fashion. But the Panini brothers turned this trend around, and decided to divide the cards into packs of two units to be sold separately, as this brought them more money.

In 1961 they rented a printing workshop in Vía Castelmaraldo, processed the card rights of some Italian soccer stars and established what is now common: collectibles with images of sports idols. The business evolved positively and it was in 1964 when the first album was released, after the investment of the Panini in a printing plant.

Panini Brothers partner with FIFA

This happened in 1970. The association took place with the commitment to produce the World Cup album in Mexico. The brand was in the hands of the brothers until 1989, when they decided to sell it to Robert Maxwell, owner of the Daily Mirror, for 96 million pounds. But Maxwell invested Panini’s profits in other businesses and the cards lost relevance.

When Maxwell died in 1991, it passed into the hands of the Italian consortium Bain, Gallo, Cuneo and De Agostini. Then, in 1994, Panini is acquired by none other than the Marvel Entertainment Group, but, unfortunately, it went bankrupt and after five years it passed into the hands of the Italian company Fineldo, which keeps the brand standing.

Completing the Panini album is a delight for football fans

Panini in numbers

In September, information circulated based on estimates by Welsh mathematician Paul Harper of Cardiff University on the cost of completing the 32 Qatar 2022 selections on the Panini album. Harper noted that without trading, a fan would need to purchase a total of 904 packs. That can represent a four-digit figure.

The amounts are increased by cards of stars like Messi or Ronaldo. In addition, there is the resale of both albums and prints, and bets on social networks or workplaces.

In the Qatar Cup 2022 they hope to exceed 1,000 million dollars with the Panini album

With respect to the brand, for the year 2014 profits close to US$ 800 million were recorded and in 2018 Panini exceeded US$ 1,000 million. In the 2022 Qatar Cup, next November, they hope to exceed this figure.

Panini is among the companies that generate the most dividends during a World Cup. Considering that from 2026 the Cup will have 48 selections instead of 32, an increase in Panini’s profits is to be expected, as fans will have to invest in more packs of cards to complete the album. However, this will also imply an increase in the value of the album itself. It will be necessary to wait until 2026 to know the future of the album, as well as its association with FIFA, after the brand lost the exclusivity to be the album of the European Championship, which was awarded to the American Troop.

The event will begin on November 20 in Qatar, after a million-dollar investment in infrastructure, which they hope will generate substantial profits, together with ticket sales and tourism, which is already becoming more dynamic in the area.

According to the agency specialized in sports Marketing Registrado, “the collection will be 17,000 million dollars. It is expected that the World Cup will be attended by 1.2 million tourists, an important fact considering that the total population of Qatar is 2.8 million inhabitants”.

Considering the importance of the World Cup, it is understandable that there is speculation about aspects such as the cost of tickets. In this sense, since the beginning of 2022 speculations began to appear with initial amounts of US$70. In any case, on the official FIFA website, in the section on tickets, it can be seen that for Category 1 the cost is 2,250 in the Opening Match and 5,850 in the final, to give an example.

To these must be added, of course, the cost of airfare from the country of residence; hotel accommodation, meals, tours and other activities that the fanatic wants to do in Qatar.

Emir of Qatar in favor of investing in sport

Sport seen as a business generates large investments, as long as you have a passion for that sport. This was stated by the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani, in the first interview he recently granted to a European media outlet.

The only real shareholder of Paris Saint-Germain declared: “Sport is not a business like the others. If you want to invest, whatever the sport, you need to have a passion for this sport. Otherwise, you are wasting your money. But if managed properly, the value of the project grows. This is what happened with PSG. The Qataris are proud of the decade spent at PSG.”
