DEA: “Only 10% of btc transactions are illegal”

The Anti-Drug Control said that most operations related to cryptocurrencies fall within the legal framework

In a recent interview given to the media by Lilita Infante, a special agent of the special commission of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), she pointed out that currently only 10% of transactions in cryptoactives are illegal.

The agent also stressed that for five years, criminal acts have been declining in the world of digital assets.

Infante is part of the team of 10 people who are in charge of the part of cybernetic research in the DEA. In her interview, she assured that the volume of transactions has been increasing since 2013.

On the other hand, she pointed out that illicit activities are mainly carried out through the dark web, where illegal products are sold and paid mostly with cryptoactive products, making this practice an increasing trend in the last year.

In the opinion of Infante this occurs in view that organizations find it more feasible to operate outside the law, as well as it is faster and safer to make transactions through cryptocurrencies.
