Brazilian Central Bank favorable to cryptocurrencies

Expectations about new technologies give managers confidence in digital money

Committed to the technological advances and their potential benefits to the banking sector, the Central Bank of Brazil has changed its position towards digital money, cryptocurrencies and platforms based on blockchains.

Ilan Goldfajn, president of the banking entity that governs transactions in the South American country, has shown a favorable opening towards the universe of cryptocurrencies, despite considering the scenario a bit risky. He does not fail to recognize, however, the security, decentralization and efficiency offered by blockchain platforms.

Goldfajn cautiously analyzes the Bitcoin, the main cryptocurrency in the world, the price fluctuations and the regulations established by the countries with more transactions in these digital currencies.

The opinion of the president of the BCB also concerns the FinTech, because according to recent statements he considers that they offer the possibility of changes in the financial world and banking in general.

It is important to remember that at the end of 2017, BCB authorities had issued an alert against investment in cryptocurrencies. Fortunately, the ecosystem conditions are gaining stability and provide confidence to investors.
