Bankia will close 25 branches in April

The Spanish financial institution will make a reduction of agencies, mainly in Mallorca and Madrid, due to the increased use of digital means by users

Bankia is one of the main banking groups in Spain. Recently, it announced that it plans to close at least 25 branches in different cities of the country in early April.

The closing of the physical agencies is foreseen as a measure before the marked increase of the use of online or digital means by the clients.

At the moment, it is known that there will be 25 agencies and the date of cessation of activities is April 5. Mallorca and Madrid are two of the cities where the largest number of Bankia branches will close. However, the same will be done in Granada, Maracena, Huelva, Valencia, Novelda (Alicante) and Telde (Gran Canaria).

The closure may have generated discomfort in the administrative staff of the agencies involved. Thus Bankia spokespersons have indicated that the action will not affect them to ensure their peace of mind.

It is important to note that the financial institution passed through a strong restructuring in 2017 and is currently executing a plan to become a leader in efficiency, solvency and profitability throughout Spain.
