Facebook launches new privacy control option

The social network launched an update for its Android application through which users can decide if they want to track information about their location in the background

Facebook introduces a new update in its Android version which allows users to choose if they want the platform to collect information about their location when the app is not being used. The data collected will be stored in the background and could be used, prior authorization, for the “Close Friends” function.

Until now, the social network had only the option to activate the location history which allowed it to create a list of the user’s location and therefore the user shared his location even if he was not using the tool.

On the other hand, the location update in the background can be activated and deactivated according to the interest of each person from the menu bar. The firm informs that for those who activate the history the option will be visible; evidently it will be deactivated for those who do not have the location history enabled.

Facebook is emphasizing on security and privacy controls in its updates improvement. That is why it allows to deactivate the collection of information from the location in the background or only activate it for very specific and close people.
