Rio de Janeiro will host the 2024 G20 summit

The G20 summit in 2024 will be held in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro

The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro, confirmed this Tuesday that the state, located in the southeast of Brazil, will host the next G20 summit of heads of state in November 2024.

As Castro has detailed on his Twitter profile, the meeting will bring together “the 20 largest world economic powers and another ten will be invited, for a total of 30.” The members of the G20, in addition to Brazil and India, are the United States, China, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Italy, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey and the European Union. In 2024 Uruguay and Paraguay will be invited.

“All of this is being possible thanks to the commitment and efforts that we are making to promote Rio de Janeiro in the world. This meeting is a milestone in our history,” he stated.

Thus, Castro has pointed out that on December 10 Brazil will receive the rotating presidency of the G20, currently in the hands of India. “The world’s eyes are on Rio de Janeiro”, has settled.
