The presidents of Colombia and Venezuela meet this Tuesday to discuss issues of bilateral relations

A statement from the Casa de Nariño reported that the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will travel to Venezuela on Tuesday, November 1st, to meet with Nicolás Maduro.

Petro will travel to the city of Caracas with his team to have lunch with the Venezuelan president and address issues such as the bilateral relationship between the two countries, the reopening of borders and the re-entry of Venezuela to the Inter-American Human Rights System.

“The meeting is part of President Gustavo Petro’s leadership to boost the region’s economy and socialize his agenda in favor of the interests of the Latin American bloc and the protection of the Amazon, and as part of the preliminary meetings for COP 27,” noted the official note.

Petro’s arrival in power has completely changed the approach to Venezuela, which has resulted in the opening of the border and embassies.
