Playstation ensures that its collection is not NFT

The company launched its loyalty program, which is not seen as one developed as non-fungible tokens (nft)

The digital collectibles that the PlayStation Stars loyalty program will deliver as rewards for playing will not be non-fungible tokens (NFT), as confirmed by Sony, who also denied that they can be sold.

The company presented PlayStation Stars, its free loyalty program with which console users can accumulate prizes for playing, winning tournaments or getting certain trophies for certain titles.

A type of rewards with digital collectibles, digital representations of iconic characters and devices that are part of the company’s history. Despite its name, Sony clarified that it is not NFT nor do they use blockchain technology.

“It’s definitely not NFT. It’s definitely not. You can’t trade or sell it. It’s not leveraging any blockchain technology and definitely not NFT”, said VP of Network Advertising, Loyalty and Licensed Merchandise Grace Chen.

The company also highlighted that it is working to prevent fraudulent activities around the rewards that players can get for participating or getting trophies in certain titles.
