Venmo adds support for cryptocurrencies to its platform

More than 70 million users affiliated with the system will be able to choose to buy, sell and store digital currencies

Venmo, the mobile payments application associated with PayPal, now offers a new service to its users for buying, selling and storing cryptocurrencies from the same application.

With more than 70 million users, the Venmo platform is available to the needs of customers in terms of cryptocurrencies, offering a simple and fast payment system that will last as a 6-week trial period, until users become familiar with the new tool.

The initiative is possible thanks to the agreement between PayPal and a provider of services and products with cryptocurrencies on a global scale called Paxos Trust Company.

Four assets get support

At the moment, the platform provides the service for cryptocurrencies such as: bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), litecoin (LTC) and bitcoin cash (BCH) and also offers different guides and tutorials that will support the client concerning frequently asked questions related to management of digital assets and the crypto market.

Darrell Esch, senior vice president and general manager of Venmo, explained that the update of the application tries to offer a controlled and known environment for those users who want to venture into digital assets trading.
