US publishes legal framework involving cryptocurrencies

The United States Department of Justice prepared a document highlighting how digital assets interact with society could change

This week, the United States Department of Justice published a legal framework regarding bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general.

One of the main aspectss of this document is that digital assets could change the way they interact with society in general.

The report warns that technological evolution and its potential expansion will create opportunities to commit crimes, jeopardizing public safety and that of the United States.

As for the threats related to these types of assets, they are divided into three types: financial transactions related to the execution of crimes, money laundering and thefts that also include the cryptocurrency markets.

The document also points out how cryptocurrencies can help individuals evade international sanctions. The Justice Department sees this as “a disturbing new opportunity to undermine traditional financial markets.”
