Russian bank freezes PDVSA accounts

The Gazprombank announced that the measure of the blockade of Venezuelan oil accounts is justified as a protection to the economic impositions of the United States

This Sunday, the Russian bank Gazprombank issued a statement announcing the decision to freeze the accounts of the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, information that was denied by the company.

“The PDVSA accounts are currently frozen. As you will understand, the operations can not be carried out, said sources of the bank, although they did not respond to the request for statements to the press.

As reported by the Reuters news agency, the oil company PDVSA had already asked customers to deposit the profits of sales in the accounts of the Russian bank Gazprombank as a way to get rid of the sanctions imposed by Donald Trump on January 28.

From the White House were released the impositions to block the access of the president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro to the income of the oil company, which in 2013 signed an agreement with the Gazprombank for US $ 1,000 million to finance the company Petrozamora.

Despite the Russian government’s support for Maduro, local companies are in the midst of a dilemma because of US sanctions that can harm their businesses.
