China to donate $ 30 million to WHO

The Foreign Minister stressed that this aid, in addition to one made in March, will serve to strengthen health systems

The Chinese government announced that it will donate $ 30 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) in its fight against the coronavirus.

This donation is in addition to the one already made by the Asian country in March, which was then $ 20 million.

Chinese Foreign Minister Hua Chunying was in charge of making the announcement through his official Twitter account, where he stressed that these funds will help strengthen health systems.

“China has decided to donate an additional $ 30 million in cash to WHO to support its global fight against # COVID19, in particular the strengthening of health systems in developing countries. China has already donated $ 20 million in cash to WHO on 11 March“, stressed the minister.

This action is generated days after the United States government announced through its president, Donald Trump, that it would no longer grant funds to the WHO, which represents 14% of its total budget.
