Mercedes-Benz presents its first electric truck

The launching will take place on June 30 with models that the automaker delivered to its customers for continuous use since 2018

Mercedes-Benz plans to start serial production of its first electric battery truck at its Wörth-am-Rhein plant this year, Daimler announced on Monday. The world premiere of the eActros for the transport of heavy cargo will be on June 30, according to the German automaker.

The prototypes have already been successfully tested on 18- or 25-ton models, delivered to customers who have kept them in continuous use since 2018, including supplying refrigerated food to supermarkets, according to the statement.

The electric truck is not inferior to a diesel truck in terms of availability and performance, Daimler stressed.

The truck subsidiary Daimler Truck also plans to mass-produce transport vehicles with hydrogen fuel cell engines from 2027.

The deadline for these advances is 2039. From then on, only new vehicles that are CO2 neutral will be sold in Europe, Japan and North America.
