WhatsApp reduces the duration of videos in the states
The videos will have a duration of 15 seconds in order to avoid any problem that may arise in the application server
The instant messaging application for smartphones, WhatsApp, has implemented new updates on its server, aimed at restricting the duration of the videos that are published in the states of the app.
The company announced that now the duration will be 15 minutes, after having a maximum duration of 30 seconds, to avoid any problem that may arise in the application server and ensure that they can continue to function normally.
So far, the measure is known to have been applied to India and is expected to spread to other nations of the world. This country has more than 400 million people using the instant messaging platform and this could lead to a collapse on the platform.
“You can no longer send videos to WhatsApp status if they last more than 16 seconds: only videos with a duration of 15 seconds will be allowed. This is happening in India and is probably an initiative to reduce traffic on server infrastructures”, according to information published on the WABetainfo blog.
According to a study carried out by the consulting and data company Kantar, WhatsApp has registered at least 40% more growth in its use worldwide, so it should be necessary to wait for the confirmation of the social media giant to apply the measure in other countries.
