Trump announces talks with Putin on oil prices

The US president indicated that it may be appropriate to have a price increase

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, affirmed that he will hold “very soon” a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to set oil prices that this Monday touched a minimum of 18 years, amid the conflict that originates between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The heads of state expressed that it is convenient to talk about the “importance of a stability of global energy prices” as reported in a White House statement. This issue is expected to be one of the most important in addition to the oil price war that exists between Saudi Arabia and Russia, which led to a collapse in prices.

“We don’t want to have a dead industry,” said Trump. “This is a fight between Saudi Arabia and Russia and they both went crazy.” The conflict is “really hurting” US industry, the US president added.

In addition, Trump indicated that it may be advisable to have a price increase, since this Monday crude fell to its lowest level since 2002.

The North Sea barrel of Brent plummeted to $ 21.65 during the exchanges, while the benchmark WTI in the United States fell below $ 20 and closed above $ 20.09, accumulating a loss of 6.6% since Friday.
