New email extortion scam targets Google’s AdSens users

The new modality is to threaten website owners with a huge influx of bot traffic

According to the recent security report by Krebs Security, a new scam mode has emerged that requires Google AdSense users to pay with bitcoins, a measure that puts websites at risk due to the huge influx of bot traffic that released with the intention of perpetrating this crime.

According to the firm, by directing a large amount of bot traffic to corporate advertising ads, scammers activate Google’s automated fraud protection, which records traffic that is produced by the use of “tools automated click ”.

The modality is to send an email in which they threaten not to release their bots until a payment of USD 5,000 bitcoins is sent.

However, Google has kept announcing that it will continue with the necessary efforts to improve its defenses in order to identify invalid traffic, including restricting the publication of an ad where automated activity is detected.

It is important to mention that if an AdSense user suspects that he or she may be the victim of an sabotage or invalid click, they can contact the Google help centers and avoid these scams.
