Sudeban, Visa and Master will launch a new payment system

After a meeting the three entities agreed to develop the whole new Venezuelan banking network, which will work in parallel with the two aforementioned operators

After a meeting of the Superintendency of Banking Sector Institutions (Sudeban) and representatives of Visa and Mastercard payment operators it was defined that the new national payment system will be created jointly.

“In the first phase we will work on the integration of all debit and credit card operators, according to the roadmap established with the banking sector, which is in the first simulations with positive results and will be evaluated weekly for measure their progress”, Sudeban said in a press release.

This week a circular was published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and Sudeban in which the deadlines were established for the Venezuelan bank to develop the independent platform.

“The Visa and Mastercard franchises have also worked jointly with the banking sector, the Sudeban and the BCV in other projects of great importance such as migration to chip technology. Therefore, this time they will also be part of the working groups providing their contributions to continue strengthening all payment options in the country”, said Sudeban.

The statement did not specify the rank or names of the participants for the American brands, nor statements of their spokespersons.
