British Parliament wants more regulations for Facebook

This Monday was issued a report detailing the investigation made by the deputies for a year with respect to the "fake news"

On Monday, the United Kingdom deputies called for new regulatory measures against social networks, in particular with Facebook.

Through a report published this February 18, parliamentarians addressed the problem with regard to false news broadcast on social networks.

“A radical change in the relationship of forces between these platforms and the public is needed, and the era of inadequate self-regulation must come to an end,” said Briton Damian Collins, chairman of the Committee on Culture, Digital, Media and Sport. the House of Commons.

The parliament commission had been given the task of investigating the phenomenon of “fake news” for a year, paying particular attention to Facebook activities.

To combat “harmful” or “illegal” content, and to protect users’ personal data, the report recommends that a “binding code of ethics” be created in the UK, and that an independent regulator monitor and enforce compliance with legal actions or heavy fines.
