Blockchain to decentralize music industry

It is the proposal of singer Pitbull through a contest he called Smackathon

During the 2018 edition of the eMerge Americas there was a novel and interesting announcement related to the recording industry and the possibility of its decentralization. The singer and entrepreneur Armando Christian Pérez, better known in scenarios as Pitbull, announced that he will launch an international competition based on blockchain technology to transform the current state of the music industry.

The basis of the contest, which has been called Smackathon, is the computer programming hackathon that will facilitate the use of the Ethereum platform worldwide. The initiative of Pitbull seeks the decentralization of the industry, through the development of innovative applications in this productive area that involves so many actors around the world.

The dynamics of the contest is organized as follows: the participants will work for a month, either in a single basis or as with a team, to produce a functional prototype that will be evaluated by a panel of judges that includes the well-known Led Zeppelin band. The finalists should travel to Miami to submit their project directly to singer Pitbull.
