Government and opposition set tentative date to resume dialogue

September 15 has been selected as the tentative date to resume dialogue between the government and the opposition in Venezuela, as announced by the head of the opposition delegation, Dinorah Figuera, in a videoconference from Spain.

Figuera stated: “We will return to the second round of talks on September 15,” to address issues such as “political guarantees, civil rights, and freedom of expression, within the framework of the process promoted by the United States to advance an institutional transition.”

Preliminary talks took place in Caracas between August 6 and 12, resulting in two agreements: “the complete overhaul of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and the recovery of assets held abroad to address the emergency caused by the June 24 earthquakes.”
