More than 200 people participated in the Venemergencia Medical Emergencies and Telemedicine Conference at IESA
The Venemergencia Group conceives of and implements innovation as a tool to save lives and strengthen the healthcare system in Venezuela
The Venemergencia Group organized and held the 1st Academic Conference on Medical Emergencies and Telemedicine, a pioneering event that took place on Thursday, October 29, at the facilities of the Institute of Higher Studies in Administration (IESA in Spanish).
This training session, as previously announced, addressed the convergence of technological innovation, clinical practice, and emergency medical management. The initiative highlighted the impact of telemedicine in the country, the updating of care protocols, and the importance of operational efficiency in critical situations.
In this regard, Dr. Luis Enrique Velásquez Díaz, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Grupo Venemergencia, emphasized the significance of this initiative: “This first academic session reinforces our commitment to health in Venezuela, promoting spaces where operational excellence and digital health come together to save lives and reaffirm the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals to the service we provide,” Velásquez stated.

During the event, the economic impact of the organization’s model was highlighted, noting that the Venezuelan private healthcare system has saved more than $70 million in the last three years in emergency medical care thanks to the incorporation of Venemergencia’s Urgent Care rooms, a platform dedicated to providing fast, accessible, and high-quality care.
Continuing education and transformative value in healthcare
This activity reflected Venemergencia’s commitment to the academic development of healthcare professionals in Venezuela. The event featured a training program structured around key areas such as the Urgent Care model, the interdisciplinary approach to pediatric, vascular, and digestive emergencies, as well as triage strategies, medical discharge, and telemedicine.
Regarding the significance of this inaugural event, Dr. Gretty Rojas, Clinical Services Manager at Urgent Care, affirmed: “We aim to share evidence-based knowledge and demonstrate how telemedicine and operational efficiency are transforming emergency care. Therefore, we want to continue establishing ourselves as a leading resource that positively impacts the training of healthcare professionals and the overall well-being of the community.”
For his part, Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, co-founder and CEO of Grupo Venemergencia, emphasized the institutional dimension of this achievement: “The realization of this first event confirms that at Venemergencia we see innovation as a tool to save lives and strengthen the healthcare system in Venezuela. We are very proud to bring together physicians, specialists, and students around a shared vision of excellence, demonstrating that a passion for service and scientific rigor are key to transforming healthcare in our country,” González-Silén highlighted.

In this way, the organization reinforced and emphasized the importance of integrating clinical practice with technology to effectively address the sector’s current challenges.
IESA is now a new cardioprotected space
Additionally, as one of the central milestones of its agenda, the Venemergencia Foundation delivered and installed Automated External Defibrillator (AED) No. 38, transforming the IESA headquarters into a new cardioprotected space. This was also the first official event held in the company of Shirley Varnagy, Venemergencia’s new brand ambassador.
Thanks to this action, the organization reaffirms its commitment to the Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program in Venezuela. Consequently, it promotes the training of communities and institutions to react immediately to unexpected and sudden cardiac arrest events, thus saving lives.

The event concluded with a message and brief testimonials from business leaders in the healthcare sector, as well as a special cultural performance by the young musicians of the San Agustín Regional Academic Center, a branch of Venezuela’s National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs. Their musical presentation capped off this day marked by excellence and social commitment.
