Flavors of the Soul nominated for the 2026 Gourmand Awards for Gastronomic Culture
Compared to the Oscars of film, the Gourmand Awards serve as a window to showcase a country's gastronomic culture
The book Flavors of the Soul: Culinary Universes Between Origin and Avant-Garde, published by Bancamiga and Mastercard, has been nominated for the 2026 Gourmand Awards for Gastronomic Culture, which recognize the best food and wine publications in the world.
Compared to the Oscars of film, the Gourmand Awards have become a unique opportunity to build the image of a country’s culinary culture and showcase its spirit to the world.
Through the narrative of journalists and chroniclers Nahir Márquez, Giuliana Chiappe, Larissa Hernández, and the recently deceased Rubén Rojas, *Flavors of the Soul: Culinary Universes Between Origin and Vanguard* presents content that transcends a mere recipe book, becoming a historical testament to contemporary haute cuisine.
The book, published earlier this year, serves as a record of the gatherings held in 2025, when internationally renowned culinary masters visited the country, highlighting the brilliance of Venezuelan chefs in various parts of the world and the vibrancy of the national scene.
Strategic vision united with a passion for excellence
“For our organization, ‘Flavors of the Soul’ represents a necessary record of what we can achieve when strategic vision is combined with a passion for excellence. This project has been conceived with the same rigor as the preparation of a great dish, where different elements and areas of work converge to leave a lasting testament to our management capabilities and commitment to culture,” stated José Simón Elarba, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga, at the book’s launch.
Flavors of the Soul: Culinary Universes Between Origin and Innovation will compete in the Corporate Books category with four other international publications: Cooking is Giving Love, from Argentina; USA Bluebarries Across the Globe, from India; La Gran Fama, a Sweet Poblano Treat, from Mexico; and Levain Bakery, from the United States.
The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau, becoming the only annual international competition in the sector. Representatives from more than 200 countries have participated in recent editions.
The winners of each category in the 32nd edition will be announced in May 2027, “in a very special place for gastronomy. The ceremony is always an opportunity to meet all the important personalities from the world of food and books,” according to the official website www.cookbookfair.com.
