Colorado welcomes blockchain companies

Lawmakers from the estate study the possibility of using the blockchain to manage water rights

Republican Senator Jack Tate along with Democratic Representatives Marc Catlin and Jeni James Arndt recently introduced a Senate Bill 184 in which they stated that the Colorado Water Institute should obtain the authority to evaluate how the blockchain can help improve their procedures and processes.

The institute is a dependent entity of the Colorado State University which is studying different cases of blockchain application to improve its management, including the database of water rights, banks or water markets and administration in general.

It should be noted that the Colorado Water Institute aims to “connect all of Colorado’s higher education experience to the research and education needs of Colorado water managers and users.”

Finally, it is emphasized that the state has a complex regulatory scheme to distribute water rights and the domestic use of the vital resource.
