Winklevoss brothers get blockchain exchange patent

US entrepreneurs obtained the patent for a crypto-based funds exchange system

The well-known American businessmen and entrepreneurs Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, have just obtained the license for an patent in cryptocurrency exchange. It is focused on methods and products for programs that use ETP. They also include digital goods related to ETPs and that use Bitcoin (BTC), Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

The businessmen applied to obtain the patent in November 2017 through their company Winklevoss IP and counted on the support of other collaborators who know the subject. The brothers have indicated to the media that the ETPs are a type of good whose value is derived through instruments such as currencies, interest rates or share prices. Its price is established from the cryptocurrencies.

The Winklevoss twins could include the details of the patent in an exchange backed by them called Gemini and that earlier this year launched a blockchain negotiation facility focused on institutional operations for hedge funds.

The activity of the Winklevoss brothers is known in the market of cryptocurrencies and related areas of the economy. So far they have acquired seven patents related to cryptography since December 2017.

Despite the success achieved so far, the entrepreneurs do not escape the regulations of the financial system of the United States, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
