TikTok prepares a streaming service

The company ByteDance plans in the near future to launch a streaming music service, similar to Apple Music or Spotify

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, plans to launch a new music streaming service similar to other platforms such as Apple Music or Spotify.

The company filed for the TikTok Music trademark in Australia in November and subsequently issued an application for registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in May.

In this request, ByteDance would have detailed that this platform would be used to “buy, play, share and download music, songs, albums and lyrics”, as this medium has published.

Also, in this record, the Chinese company would have indicated that other possible use cases for TikTok Music would be “streaming audio and video live”, as well as “editing and uploading photos as the cover of playlists” and “commenting on music, songs and albums.

This would indicate that its new bet would have characteristics very similar to those of other streaming music services, such as Spotify or Apple Music.

From this medium they remember that the ByteDnace idea already has another streaming music application called Resso, currently available in India, Brazil and Indonesia, which it launched in 2020 and already has millions of subscribers.
